CIBC partnered with ASTOUND to evolve the in-branch experience at their flagship Ambition Centre in Yorkdale Mall — a space designed to help Canadians connect with their financial goals in inspiring, approachable ways. 

Challenge

CIBC came to ASTOUND with the challenge of bringing financial literacy to life in a way that felt personalized, exciting, and intuitive. They needed a plug-and-play solution that could speak to a wide range of financial ambitions while remaining easy to use, visually dynamic, and accessible for all types of visitors. 

Solution

ASTOUND built MATCHY, a touch-based, match-style puzzle game installed on a freestanding kiosk. Guests began by selecting a personal ambition — such as "take a dream vacation" or "build a legacy" — then dove into a one-minute matching game where every swipe earned points toward their goal. At the end of each game, participants received not just a score but personalized financial insights based on their selection. The game’s interface was fully adaptive and designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for every visitor. 

Outcome

With a clear, gamified bridge between play and purpose, MATCHY helped drive traffic to CIBC’s digital ecosystem via QR follow-ups — connecting each in-branch interaction to personalized next steps, while also increasing dwell time by 44%. 

MATCHY gave CIBC a fun, friendly way to engage with clients and spark deeper conversations around ambition. For CIBC, it wasn’t just a game — it was a strategic, accessible touchpoint designed to educate, entertain, and inspire.
