Transforming retail with an immersive seasonal experience​

Background​

In November 2022, Arc’teryx offered New Yorkers a unique opportunity to experience the rugged beauty of the Coast Mountains in the heart of the city. This exclusive multimedia experience aimed to transport visitors into the universe of the high-performance outdoor equipment company, showcasing the dramatic and ever-changing weather of the coastal mountains, and inspiring moments of unforgettable awe.

Challenge

Arc’teryx faced the challenge of recreating the wild, unpredictable environment of the Coast Mountains within an urban setting. The goal was to immerse participants fully, from the initial approach to the mountain to the awe-inspiring summit, all while highlighting the brand’s deep connection to the outdoors and their high-performance gear.

Solution

ASTOUND created an immersive journey that began with a simulated helicopter ride, leading participants through foggy forests and up steep slopes, culminating in a summit experience surrounded by a 270° panoramic screen depicting the changing mountain weather. The experience concluded with a reflective moment by an LED campfire and placid lake, bringing the essence of the Coast Mountains to the city.​

Outcome

The immersive experience successfully transported participants to the heart of the Coast Mountains, effectively capturing the wild, unpredictable nature of the environment that inspires Arc’teryx. The combination of sensory elements and innovative design created a memorable, impactful experience that not only showcased the brand's products but also deepened the connection between the participants and the great outdoors.​
